New Storage Technology

Storage technologies store a type of Energy Carrier to use it at a later moment in time when it is needed more.

 

 

- Storage Name: The name your technology based on its function, e.g. Battery.

- Stored Energy Carrier:  Select the EC that can be stored in this technology.

- Hubs: Select the hubs which could benefit from the technology.

- Lifetime [years]:  The lifetime is the number of years for which the technology is expected to be useful.

- Capacity [kW]: Only filled when there is an existing storage technology so the capacity doesn't need to be optimized.

- Fixed Investment [CHF]:  Investment costs for the entire lifetime of the technology that are not relative to the installed capacity

- Variable Investment [CHF/kW]: Investment costs for the entire lifetime that depends on the capacity of the installed technology.

- Fixed O&M Cost [CHF]: Operational and Maintenance cost per year that are not relative to the installed capacity.

- Fixed O&M Cost [CHF/kW]: Operational and Maintenance costs per year that depend on the installed capacity.

- Maximum Charging Rate [%/hour]: The maximum rate of charging of the storage capacity as % of the total capacity per hour. (E.g. a charging rate of 1% per hour for an optimized capacity of 100kWh means 1kWh of charging rate per hour)

- Maximum Discharging Rate [%/hour]: The maximum rate of discharging of the storage capacity as % of the total capacity per hour. (E.g. a discharging rate of 1% per hour for a optimized capacity of 100kWh means 1kWh of max discharging rate per hour)

- Standby Loss [%/hour]: It represents the losses of the storage technology as % of total capacity per hour. E.g. a Standby Loss of 0.01% for a storage technology with 100kWh of optimized capacity means 0.01kWh of losses per hour

- Minimum SoC [%]: The minimum State of Charge (SoC) as % of total optimized capacity of the storage technology that must be always respected.

- Minimum Capacity [kWh]:  Minimum Capacity that the storage technology should have

- Maximum Capacity [kWh]: Maximum Capacity that the storage technology could have

- CO2 Investment [kgCO2-eq./kW]: CO2 emitted for the installation of the technology in the entire lifetime depending on the installed storage capacity.
